Day Eight Gairloch to Skye (Loch Slappin) 2 hour 11mins and 88 miles, this is does not account for stopping off in places on the way to look.

Todays Journey was to make our way to the Isle of Skye and free camp.  We all agreads this was the most scenic part of the North Coast 5OO  and we are glad we did the trip anticlock wise, most people go clock wise round, but we felt we would do the east side first so we had something to look forward to coming down the west side and we all agreed we made the right decision.  We stopped off at a little place called Torridon at a small Village Hall were they has a Craft Fair with Food and lots of Goodies to buy. Next on to have our Dinner while taking in the lovely views of Shiedaig. Shiedaig  is a very pretty Village looking over upper Loch Torridon,  natrually had to pay a vist to the Smoke House for some smoked Salmon it was smoked to perfection so we brought some home with us for Christmas.

There is a small well kept Campsite on the hill looking down into Shiedaig Village.

Isle of Skye (Loch Slappin)

From  Shiedaig we started to make our way over to Skye leaving the North Coast 500 route and taking in the vastness of Loch Carron, the sun was out and it was picture perfect, it would have been nice to stop and have a look round but we must carry on to Skye.   We arrived in Kyle of Lochalsh around 4.30 and called in at Coop supermarket for supplies and then made our way over the Skye Bridge, we had no idea where to camp up so made our way up sky and eventually ended up at Loch Slappin and what a breath taking View off the loch and surrounding area, what better place to have tea and a sleep over.
